Friends World Map

 

 

 

You will be adding a World Map on your space using the Space Media Player.

On this Map, visitors to your space can pin themselves. So it something like a map guestbook. 

First,

You will need to get the Space media player on your Space first. Click here to learn how to.

 

Click here to head to the Frapper Create a Map Service.

• Fill in the details they ask you to and click on the 'Create my Map' button.
• The page will refresh and a 'Invite your Friends' Page comes up. Skip it by clicking on the Skip for now link.

 

• The page will refresh and will say, ' Automatically add this map to Myspace'. Ignore it.
• Look below, there will be something like '..Or copy this code'
• Copy the code give to you.

• Paste this code into notepad or something so that we can search for what we want..
• Copy the part in between "       "  after src= from the code given to you. (As shown above in red, in my case. Note : The code will be different in your case)

Go to www.tinyurl.com and get a tinyurl for it.

• Now modify this URL http://tinyurl.com/jlu8r  to http://tinyurl.com/jlu8r#.wmv , that is, add #.wmv at the end. (The tiny URL will be different in your case)
• Click here to see a previous tutorial explaining this method a little more clearly if you are having difficulties, that is.
• Now take this URL and paste it in your media player and click 'Save'.
• Do set the display mode in your media player to 'none' for optimum display and tick the auto start function
• Done!

Well you have your own Friends Map, till MSN Live Spaces comes up with the idea to use their Live maps as a Map module for pinning your friends on Spaces.

uhm.. won't that increase their map service usage considerably as its lagging behind Google maps, etc?
